Atishay Abbhi

Disaster Risk Management Specialist, World Bank Group

Atishay Abbhi is a Disaster Risk Management Specialist at the World Bank, who has been working at the cross-roads of climate, natural disasters and conflict for the last 10 years. He has co-led and supported needs assessments, response, recovery and resilience building efforts across Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia – from crisis-hit Somalia and Nigeria to Typhoon Haiyan ravaged Philippines, the Rohingya crisis and cyclones in Bangladesh to multi-hazard resilience in India, Nepal and the Maldives. He currently works on a portfolio of close to $1 billion across South Asia, that includes loans, grants and technical assistance to countries to manage disaster risks, build climate adaptation and resilience. While at the World Bank and previously at the International Committee of the Red Cross, Atishay has been leading efforts on developing a robust innovation and technology ecosystem that keeps resilience needs of the communities at the center and allows for co-creation partnerships between governments and innovators. Atishay holds a Masters Degree in International Economics from the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University.
